Meet Our Maple Member: Kevin Manship, Gamer One (Gaming)

Every few months we welcome multiple international startups to Vancouver, as they begin Phase 3 of our Maple Program. In an ongoing Maple Member series, we interview our newest Canadians about their experience with Launch and Canada so far.

Since he was a child, Kevin had always dreamed big, and about the ability to invent something out of nothing that would benefit others. Although most of his professional background is in programme and development management (some of which was using blockchain technology) in the mining industry, he took on numerous side projects to build, develop and program various products.

In 2018, James Clarke (Kevin’s co-founder) approached Kevin with the idea of building a dedicated platform for esports players, teams and brands to come together as a community. This idea brought together two of Kevin’s passions- gaming and business, so it’s no surprise that he picked up his life and made the move to Vancouver from Perth, Australia, to take Gamer One to the next level.

The end goal for Gamer One is that all gamers, regardless of game, platform or level of professionalism can be a part of the Gamer One community. To make their dream become a reality, Kevin and James realized that bringing the platform to Vancouver would give them access to the North American market, where the gaming and esports industry is young and exciting.

Kevin has enjoyed his experience with Launch and the Maple Program so far, with the most exciting part being the opportunity to meet other founders to discuss and share ideas and pain points.
