Every few months we welcome multiple international startups to Vancouver, as they begin Phase 3 of our Maple Program. In an ongoing Maple Member series, we interview our newest Canadians about their experience with Launch and Canada so far.
As the CEO of ClearAd, Ahmad Movahedian Attar has more than ten years of international experience in the Media industry, beginning with his Master’s thesis on Bluewin TV as a collaborative project between EPFL and SWISSCOM. He also has project management experience in Tehran, as well as board member/ advisory board experience for several Media startups, but ultimately his early passion for bringing innovative technologies to everyday life led him to starting his own company.
Ahmad began his entrepreneurial journey to bring innovative technologies to everyday life. As he gained more experience, he found that orchestrating business growth in innovative technologies was his key interest. With over 30 years of combined experience founding new businesses and in various areas of the startup ecosystem, the ClearAd team came together in August 2019 to found the ad-network that lets advertisers build up their advertising campaigns by utilizing the publishers’ inventory.
Their goal is to provide both advertisers and publishers with financial transparency through its value chain, maximizing the revenue for publishers, and by real-time bidding, advertisers can improve the performance of their ad campaigns. To ensure their dream became a reality, the ClearAd team realized that settling in Vancouver would give them access to the North American market, which is where the tech ecosystem is rapidly growing and “becoming the Silicon Valley of the north.”
Ahmad has enjoyed his experience with the tech community in Vancouver so far, and would recommend that anybody interested in moving here try to discover and develop their market in Canada before beginning the transition process.
